—AOL: Amber Lawson has been named to the new position of head of video programming. Leading a team that oversees AOL (NYSE: AOL) Studios, AOL Video hub, AOL.com and third party production, she’ll be responsible for all original video content. Lawson previously worked with Babelgum where she oversaw the international comedy business and original series.
—MPAA: The Motion Picture Association of America has appointed Karen Thorland to its legal team as VP and senior content protection counsel, effective Jan. 18. She’ll report to Daniel Mandil, senior EVP, general counsel and chief content protection officer. Thorland joins from Loeb & Loeb, LLP.
